At first glance it may seem that there is not much difference between them. But it is not so and these fish are different, both in appearance and, especially, in behavior! And in the first part I will tell you about a very active and beautiful fish - black neon.
Black neon - like most of my favorite fish, comes from the rivers of South America. Mainly rivers Rio Tacuari. Prefers shallow areas with a weak current.
Has a drop-shaped, elongated in length and slightly flattened on the sides, the body. The main body color is olive. On the body there are two clearly pronounced bands. One, wide and black, passing through the whole body and setting on the caudal fin. The second, narrower, shiny and light, is at the top of the black one. The upper part of the eye is bright red.
The fish is small in size, which usually reaches 3,5-4, see
Black neon Tetra. Keeping.
In the content, black neon is considered to be a very unpretentious fish and can be recommended even to beginner aquarists.
Like most fish and South America, black neons prefer slightly acidic and soft, so-called “Black water”. And if you want to achieve maximum brightness of the color and excellent health in the fish, this water can be easily created by putting dry foxes of almonds in the aquarium. (How to add fox almond tree, read here.)
Black neon, a schooling fish, so it is worth getting from 6 individuals. Yes, and these fish look in the pack, much more spectacular. Due to its small size, a large volume of aquarium is not required. A couple, three fish can be kept in 15 liters. But for the flocks, an aquarium from 80 liters is already needed.
It is desirable to densely plant an aquarium with live plants. The lighting required is not very bright, muffled. This can be achieved simply by setting water plants on the surface, for example Pistia stratiotes.
In feeding, black neon is omnivorous, and will be glad to any feed - dry, live and frozen. The only thing you need to monitor their diversity and size. Black neon has a small mouth and, therefore, food needs to be picked up on a small size.
Optimal keeping parameters:
- Volume from 15 liters per pair and 80 liters per flock.
- The temperature is 22-27 ° C.
- Acidity of pH 6.2-6.6. He prefers acid water.
- Stiffness dH 2-12. Prefers soft water.
- Feeding is omnivorous.
- Compatibility is peace-loving.
- The level of complexity of the content is easy.
Black neon is a hardy fish, suitable for beginners.
Black neon tetra. Compatibility.
This fish has a peaceful nature, so it can be kept with any peaceful fish of small size. Such as guppies, swordtails, danios, neons, catfish corridor. Avoid large fish and catfish, they will perceive neon as food. It is also believed that black neons can attack cubs of shrimp, although other types of neons are indifferent to them.
Now, black neons have learned to breed quite successfully.
And all the copies submitted for sale are already divorced, grown and adapted to local conditions of detention. Of the wild nature of the fish are almost not transported.
But in different sources on the Internet they write differently. In some, reproduction is quite easy, and even a novice can do. In others, that is rather complicated and special conditions are required.
I have these fish recently, and as soon as I can get offspring from them, I will make a detailed post.
