Jig for Fish and Fry. Overview and Application! (My experience!)

If you notice a pregnant viviparous fish in an aquarium, or someone is behaving aggressively, then the first thing that comes to mind is to move the fish to a separate otsadnik. But which one?

And if there is usually no problem with the jigger (in case of emergency, it can be made even from a plastic bottle), then with additional equipment, difficulties may arise. After all, we need a separate compressor with hoses and an air sprayer, a separate heater and a separate lamp. Not everyone has it all at home in stock. And to buy, you need money and time.

But! Smart people have come up with a fairly simple and effective way to solve a problem. They have developed a transparent plastic bailout that fits inside the common aquarium.

This otsadnik solves many problems at once:

  • Separates the fish we need from the others.
  • We do not need additional fishtanks and equipment.
  • Fish remains in the same water and surrounding environment, which relieves it of stress during relocation.
  • It is very convenient for us to observe it.

But the developers went further and in the supplement came up with more and how to protect the newborn fry from their own mother.

The internal hatchery. Description.

The cooler is a plastic rectangular container with a double bottom. On the inner bottom and sides, slits are made. Moreover, different sizes and for different purposes. On the sides - for the circulation of water in the tank. And on the inner bottom - to shelter the fry from an adult female. A removable plastic partition is inserted in the center, which allows two small fish to be deposited at once. Also the bailout is provided with a plastic cap with holes. Theoretically, it can be completely immersed in water.

But here you need to be very careful, because many fish, such as Gurami (Trichogaster), Cockerel (Betta splendens), Somiki Corridoras (Corydoras) and snails need free access to open air. Otherwise, they will die! Therefore, it is better not to risk it and place the sedimentator near the surface of the water.

The hatchery. How to use.

It's all pretty simple. The container has two suckers on each side. Fasten otsadnik to the side window and in a convenient place for us. Preferably, close to the jet of the filter, or air sprayer, in order to create the necessary circulation of water inside the container.

We insert the second bottom and we remove the fish we need. Now, at birth, the fry will simply fall down through the holes, and the female will not be able to reach them.

It seems everything is perfect, but there are some drawbacks to the design.

The hatchery. Minuses. Personal observation!

The first minus is the cleaning of waste from the fish. After all, through the bottom with bars, not only fry fall, but all the garbage. A pregnant woman may not give birth immediately, but for example, in a week. And getting to the trash will be quite problematic. We'll have to get the fish and the lattice, and siphon the bottom. And the snail cannot be placed there to eat waste. There is a closed space, and it will simply suffocate.

The second minus - problems with feeding the fish. All food, whether bloodworm or dry flakes, fail, as well as garbage, through the slots, and the fish remains hungry.

To solve this problem, I additionally put a plastic plate in one corner. On it and pour food.

And more, I would like a bigger size. It seems I bought the biggest one, but it seems to me too small. A smaller size fit, except for the fry themselves or shrimp.

The idea with such a bailout is wonderful! The only thing you need to solve the problem with the garbage and size.
